Hi Bill, If you have one Di622 Mark II and you want to use it as slave on your Nikon D60, just set your built-in (pop-up) flash to TTL mode.

On your Nissin, you long press the "mode" key to set it to slave (every light will be blinking in slave mode) and then just shoot with your D60 and your Nissin will fire with it...

Just bought a Nissin Di622 Mark II for my Nikon D60. Can it be used as a slave flash and are there any special settings on camera to allow me to do that?? Thanks, Bill

@Jennifer, the Yungnuo RF-602 is an RF flash trigger, you dont need to use the flash trigger if you plan to slave flash the Nissin. The blinking red light on the Nissin indicates you are on the TTL slave mode, this can only be triggered if you set the on-camera and/or built-in flash to ttl mode, the nissin will fire controlled by the TTL flash.

However if you plan to use your YN Flash Trigger, your Nissin Di622 should be the Mark2/MKII Version, or if you have the old one then have it upgraded. To use it as slave with your flash trigger, you dont need to set it to the TTL slave mode (blinking), rather just turn it on normally either on automatic or manual setting while attached to the receiver end of your flash trigger. Now the Blinking green is the indicator that your master controller (the YN Flash Trigger that is attached to your SLR), is ready to control the receiver.

@Azlan, read my previous answers to the comments as I already answered it. Just set your on-camera/built-in flash to TTL mode and set your Di622 to Slave Mode (blinking) and that is it...

@tetoulas, the Nissin at Slave Mode some times receives master signal from a command mode of your SLR, since its basically a TTL sequence anyway, it doesnt however understand the rest of the Master Signal from your commander mode for the strength and exposure settings.

@azlan: Set your builtin flash in TTL mode, set your Nissin in slave mode and you are ready.

Well, I have another question. I own D90 and di622. Today I made an experiment. I used commander mode for build-in flash set to fire manually at 1/128. Surprisingly, di622 fired! What's going on here?
I thought that di622 works as slave only with TTL master.

Hi,

I recenly bought a Nissin Di622 and a Yungnuo RF-602. This is to use on my Nikon D5000. My problem is, the receiver attached to the hotshoe of the nikon d5000 has a green light, but the transmitter does not show a green light, only a red blinking light. How do I remedy this to work with my flash?

Also, do I need to set or do something on my flash or camera settings for me to be able to do off camera flash shooting?

Please help! Thanks in advance!

Hi Vanessa,

Although not listed on the compatibility chart of the Nissin, your pentax is supported by the Slave ETTL mode of the Nissin Di622 Mark 2. That means the updated firmware version will work with your camera as slave flash. Either remote or wireless...

Direct to shoe however is another matter. You need a remote flash cord, or you can use radio wireless triggers to make it work for your needs.

Hi Enyel,

A Canon version of the Di622 should work for you. However, if you still cant get it to work. You can get a remote trigger and off-shoe bracket to make it work for you.
