Yes, most Nissin Di866 depending on where you bought it from has some mechanical noise with it since it uses servo to manually adjust the automatic distance settings to get the proper exposure... Regarding it won't turn on again, did you replace it with newer batteries. Also the Di866 has an overheat protection, so when it triggers, you wont be able to use the flash until it cools off. Try again later and see if it turns on. If all else fails, have it replaced as maybe the one you bought has a factory defect... Hi Worried.
