Araneta Grand Reunion
I never knew I was an Araneta until my dad forwarded to me a registration form for the Araneta Reunion. I was still a little sick from my previous illness, that’s why I had more time to blog so I asked him about it. My Dad was always attending Family reunions as he loves to reminisce and talk about the old times and emphasize that family is important. What is odd is I never asked about my Grandparents on my Fathers side. The only grandparent I was lucky enough to be in presence with is my grandma on my mothers’ side. My grandpa on my mothers’ side and grandparents on my fathers’ side were all in heaven before I was born.
My dad actually attended the Araneta Clan Grand Reunion and urged me to go with him; I asked where did we get the Araneta roots? Well to my surprise, my grandmother on my fathers’ side was an Araneta, that’s why my Dads middle initial is A, and I never asked about that. I’d like to trace my roots from there but I can’t find no further info, other than my Dad is called Pañero by a certain Enriquito Araneta every time he is around and that he explained to me my roots although it wasn’t clear. I wondered why all of a sudden I actually belong to a clan. Anyway, I’d be glad to actually finally know my ancestry; it’s like a puzzle that completes a person you know.
So I declined and said I wasn’t feeling too well. My dad attended and he still registered me and got me the items needed to attend in case I change my mind. So I have this Identification Card, Meal Tickets and a Yellow Shirt with the Araneta insignia. If you guys have any information that I can use to trace my roots, let me know.
Archos: Where are you?
I have been a fan of the Archos Media players. Although out-shined by the ever popular iPod series, I still love the way Archos Innovates. Much as equally loved as Creative Labs Media Players, Archos Media players also have killer feature sets. And since it seem to be a trend to have touch-screen, internet-ready all-in-one media machines, Archos introduced their own: The Archos 5. They also started naming their products by the number, as in Archos 5, Archos 7 and the like.
Their catch phrases found on their site at www.archos.com are the simplified way of showing what it can do. Uncompromised web surfing in the Palm of your hands. (If there is such a word as Uncompromised). Your entire digital library in a thin handheld tablet. (Meaning it is a tablet, which means it has touch-screen and the entire digital library means Music, Photos, Videos and all data files). The ultimate TV experience at home or on the go. (So you can plug it in your TV to watch, and plug in to your Cable box to record movies and schedule them like TiVo when you want to watch your favorite channel programs later at 720p which is technically HD). You can get more details of the Archos 5 on the Official site.
Google Killer?
I don’t think so, although CUIL (pronounced Kewl or Cool) is a new up and coming Search Engine, it doesn’t live up to the expectation. Many users have complained of the the poor SERP’s (Search Engine Results Page), results that really don’t have relevance or has poor relevance to the term or phrase being searched for.
The Hype however is caused by the frenzy over it’s creators who were two former Google employees that was instrumental in 2006 TeraGoogle Project. However, some commented that they are just a bunch of guys building a site that they are trying to get bought.
Although it has some nice features such as thumbnails of pages on the search results, topic tab for grouping relevance and multi-column options so you won’t have to scroll much. A Few days ago however they were swamped by visitors, possibly testing out their new Search Engine that it crashed the server and CUIL had to transfer and upgrade to get it back up and running. Check them out and see what you think.
